The legal team with Russell Alexander Family Lawyers invites Canadian high school or post-secondary students who are interested in law and ready to start their college careers to apply for the Russell Alexander Law Scholarship. This scholarship promises winners up to $2,000 in financial aid in addition to a $500 bonus to spend on school-related expenses.
Our separation and divorce lawyers want to make it as easy as possible for the next generation of legal professionals to achieve their goals. Applicants can begin submitting their scholarship essays for consideration on March 3, 2026.
Who is Eligible?
The Russell Alexander Law Scholarship is open to Canadian citizens currently enrolled in a Canadian college or university. Applicants must have a minimum average of 80% and demonstrate a general interest in studying and pursuing a career in the legal field.
Applicants must also agree to the scholarship’s terms and conditions and submit all of the required materials when applying for the Russell Alexander Law Scholarship. The scholarship selection committee cannot consider incomplete applications.
How Do I Apply?
Students interested in applying for the Russell Alexander Law Scholarship can review the qualifying criteria above and then craft an essay based on the prompt issued by the firm. The essay should fall within the 1,000-word limit and thoroughly address the topic in question.
Students can upload a PDF of their completed essays along with the application form on this page. Applications must reach Russell Alexander Family Lawyers by the application deadline of June 30, 2026, to qualify for consideration.
Scholarship Essay Topic
When applying for the Russell Alexander Law Scholarship, please submit an essay of no more than 1,000 words going into detail about why you want to pursue a career in law. Your essay should also discuss the experiences or challenges that shaped your motivation and how you plan to use your legal education to positively impact your community.
Essays should include:
- A catchy title
- A bibliography and citations, as applicable
- A header including the student’s full name
Students should save their essays as PDFs using the following format: “[Scholarship Name and Year] – [Student Name]”.

Russell Alexander Family Lawyers wants to read students’ original thoughts about their goals and ambitions in the legal field. Please do not use AI to generate an essay when applying for the Russell Alexander Law Scholarship.
The inappropriate use of AI to generate a scholarship essay will see a student’s application removed from the applicant pool.
Application Deadline
The next annual Russell Alexander Law Scholarship will open on March 3, 2026. Students have until June 30, 2026, to complete and submit their applications.
Once this deadline passes, the scholarship selection committee may take up to three months to select its winner. Unfortunately, the team cannot answer phone calls, emails, or other types of communication from students or their families with questions about the status of a student’s application during this timeframe.
Applications must reach the firm by June 30, 2026, and include all of the required materials to qualify for consideration.
Terms and Conditions
All applicants to this scholarship must meet the eligibility requirements as laid out on the scholarship application page, including:
- Applicant must be enrolled at a college, university, or graduate school.
- Applicant must be at least 18 years old at the time of enrollment.
- Applicant must have residency in Canada.
- Applicant must be in good academic standing.
- Applicant must submit some personal information, including name, contact information, and academic information.
- Applicant must author an original essay on the scholarship topic provided.
Anyone who meets the following conditions is NOT eligible to apply:
- Employees or children of employees of Russell Alexander
- Past recipients of the Russell Alexander Law Scholarship
- Applicants who are unable/unwilling to be interviewed by a representative of Russell Alexander if they were to be awarded a scholarship
- Applicants who submit the same essay for multiple scholarships or for multiple years in a row
Selection and Award Notification Process
The scholarship selection committee with Russell Alexander Family Lawyers takes great care with each student’s application. Students can trust individuals to read about their dedication to the legal practice and select a winner based on merit and academic achievements, as well as their long-term career goals.
Age, race, religion, gender, national origin, familial status, or other protected classes will have no influence on the committee’s decision. Remember, the legal representatives with Russell Alexander Family Lawyers cannot answer questions about the selection process at this time. Please do not contact the firm to ask about the status of an application.
A representative will reach out to the scholarship’s winning student via email, after which Russell Alexander Family Lawyers will announce the winner’s name through a blog post and press release. The student’s winnings will be mailed to their academic institution of choice.
