Russell Alexander Collaborative Family Lawyers has opened a new office in Kingston, its eighth location in Ontario since starting in 1998. The firm led by family lawyer Russell Alexander has continually grown and expanded, adding new locations in Toronto, Whitby, Oshawa, Markham, Peterborough, and Concord, which opened in 2021 and is the most recent office opening for the firm prior to Kingston.
“Our new location in Kingston will help us be more accessible and available for clients going through difficult family situations like divorce or parenting time and decision-making responsibility disputes,” said Alexander. “Being able to come in and talk directly with a lawyer in person can help set your mind at ease.”
Alexander said that the expansion comes amid huge shifts in family law. The coronavirus pandemic shuttered courtrooms, leading to the rise of so-called “Zoom divorces” held online while creating a backlog in many courtrooms. Other changes may be coming.
The author of several books on divorce, Alexander is working on an upcoming book about how artificial intelligence may change the landscape of family law. “The field of family law keeps changing, but one thing that isn’t is the need for competent and compassionate representation in court,” added Alexander. “With eight offices across Ontario, our goal is to offer the legal services that people need close to their home.”
