Joseph B. Cugini

Associate Lawyer

Joseph’s passion for family law is rooted in a genuine desire to help individuals and families navigate some of the most difficult chapters of their lives with empathy, clarity, and care. He understands the emotional toll these matters can take and believes strongly in the value of having a steady, compassionate advocate by your side.

With a background in commerce, Joseph brings a strategic mindset to his legal practice, drawing on strong negotiation, analytical, and critical thinking skills to help clients achieve practical, results-oriented solutions. While studying law at Queen’s University, he gained valuable hands-on experience through the Family and Children Law Placement course led by Professor Nicholas Bala. His articling experience at the firm exposed him to a wide range of family law issues and laid a strong foundation for the confident, well-rounded lawyer he is today. Now, as an Associate at the firm, Joseph manages all aspects of family law files from parenting disputes and support matters to property division and complex settlements.

Joseph believes that effective family law advocacy starts with trust. Known for his approachable and friendly demeanor, he prioritizes active listening, clear communication, and empathy in all client interactions. He strives to create a supportive environment where clients feel understood and empowered, no matter how challenging the situation.

As a certified collaborative lawyer with the Ontario Association of Collaborative Professionals, Joseph is also trained in helping clients resolve their matters outside of the courtroom through a respectful and cooperative process that promotes long-term resolution and healing.

Outside the office, Joseph is a dedicated sports fan, loyally (and often painfully) supporting the Toronto Maple Leafs and the LA Rams. He enjoys playing hockey, catching a good movie, and unwinding with family and friends.
