Event sponsored by DocEquity focuses on topics such as parental rights, domestic violence
Russell Alexander Collaborative Family Lawyers is holding its second annual free virtual summit on Thursday, Oct. 26, and Friday, Oct. 27, which will offer 12 one-hour educational sessions on a variety of family law issues.
Legal tech company DocEquity is sponsoring the event with a $5,000 donation that will go to The Abrigo Centre, a Toronto charity. The event is free to attend; however, the audience will have the opportunity to make individual donations with the goal of matching DocEquity’s generous contribution to The Abrigo Centre’s Violence Again Women Program.
The event will offer presentations on collaborative divorce, domestic violence, and the intersection of bankruptcy and family law matters. Russell Alexander will also host a presentation on AI and the legal profession, the subject of his forthcoming book.
Alexander said, “This summit will give lawyers and other professionals an opportunity to learn about the latest trends in family law so we can all better serve our clients.”
Other notable subjects at this year’s summit are how family-run businesses can survive and thrive after a divorce, how to derail high-conflict cases and the removal and retention of children across borders during parental disputes.
The summit is an extension of the law firm’s twice-monthly virtual event series on family law featuring firm lawyers and guest experts. “Whether you’re hoping to learn more as you start in the field or are a longtime family lawyer looking for some new insights, the virtual summit will be two days of great conversations,” added Alexander.
