CBC | ‘Spike’ in divorce since start of COVID-19 lockdown

On March 8th, 2021, Russell Alexander appeared on CBC to discuss the ‘spike’ in divorce rates that has been attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic. Russell noted that he has seen, an approximate 30% increase in family law files at his firm since the beginning of the pandemic, which mirrors data found in the US regarding divorce rates. He believes this is due to the added pressures that the pandemic has put on relationships.
