Shelley works as a Senior Law Clerk in the Lindsay office. She has been working in the legal profession for 25 years and has been with the firm since 2009. Shelley develops excellent relationships with clients by being caring and attentive to their needs. She assists them with all aspects of their family law cases, notably, with the preparation of court pleadings and financial statements. Shelley’s goal is to always communicate effectively with clients during a very difficult and emotional time in their lives.
Shelley is also the firm’s bookkeeper, and in this role she works closely with the firm’s accountant, BDO. She has extensive bookkeeping experience from working in other law firms and other areas of her life outside the legal profession.
Shelley is a graduate of Durham College and holds a Law Clerk Diploma from the Institute of Law Clerks for Ontario. Shelley has superior knowledge of the Family Law Rules and court filing practice and procedures. She helps clients to understand the process, the different options available, and what possible outcomes may arise. Prior to joining Russell Alexander Family Lawyers, Shelley worked with a sole practitioner in Peterborough and at a large law firm in Lindsay.
Shelley was born and raised in Lindsay, Ontario, and is glad to have returned to her roots to work here. She enjoys travelling and spending time with her family: her life partner, her son, and her step-son. Shelley is a dragon boat racer and participates each year in the Peterborough Dragon Boat Festival, which raises money for breast cancer research. Shelley describes the workplace culture at Russell Alexander Family Lawyers as “very family-oriented” and loves the challenge of working two positions. Most of all, she enjoys the rewards of helping clients during difficult times and making a difference whenever possible.
