Darla works as a senior law clerk at the Brooklin and Markham offices and takes a caring, client-focused approach to assisting clients through every aspect of their case. When Darla is assigned as the clerk on a file, she works with the client directly to prepare court pleadings, financial statements and reports to the client throughout the file. Darla takes the time to listen to clients’ concerns and helps them understand the court process. Darla also acts as a liaison between clients and their lawyer. As the firm’s Marketing Coordinator, she is involved in managing the Russell I. Alexander Giving Fund, and played a key role in the Fund’s inception.
Darla has over 30 years’ experience in all aspects of family law, having graduated from Seneca College in 1984. She especially values the wisdom and experience she gained in her previous role as an assistant at the Office of the Chief Justice, Superior Court of Justice, Osgoode Hall. She is an active Member of the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario and teaches Family Law to Law Clerk students at Durham College in the Faculty of Justice and Emergency Services.
Darla enjoys travelling, spending time with her family and friends, and participating in various fundraising events for Toronto Sick Children’s Hospital Foundation, MS and breast cancer research. Darla appreciates that Russell encourages the development of her career and fosters a team environment at the firm, and feels that this ultimately benefits clients.
