Amelia Daurio is an Associate Lawyer at Russell Alexander Collaborative Family Lawyers. Before joining our team in 2016, Amelia worked as a lawyer in a litigation-based practice for eleven years. Amelia is client focused and results driven, with superior oral and written advocacy skills. She approaches each client matter with compassion, attention to detail, and with the goal of reaching amicable resolutions wherever possible. At Russell Alexander, Amelia practices in all areas of family law including divorce, custody, access, child support, spousal support, domestic contracts and property-related issues.
Amelia graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Western Ontario where she majored in English and she completed her Bachelor of Laws Degree at Osgoode Hall Law School in 2004. Amelia was called to the bar of Ontario in 2005.
Since her early days in law school, Amelia recognized the importance of the best interest of the child in family law and this has formed the basis of her career path. Amelia completed her Articles with the Office of the Children’s Lawyer and worked as Legal Counsel with a Children’s Aid Society for many years. At Osgoode Hall, she was selected to participate in the Poverty Law Intensive program and spent eight (8) months working at Parkdale Community Legal Services. She also enjoyed her final summer of law school at the Family Responsibility Office.
Amelia is a lifelong learner who also enjoys public speaking and taking on a leadership role. She has been invited to share her litigation expertise through presentations and as an instructor at Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs jointly hosted by the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. Amelia has also conducted other presentations and provided training for lawyers and mediators. She has been on the Board of Directors with the York Region Law Association since 2012.
Amelia grew up in Toronto and also resided in Stratford, Ontario for many years before starting her post-secondary education. Amelia now calls Brooklin home and is thrilled to be practicing law in the community that she loves. When Amelia is not passionately advocating for her clients, she is spending time with her blended family and exploring local festivals, fairs, beaches and watching sporting events.
