I. Alexander Awards 2010 Charitable Giving Fund Grant
Lindsay,
ON
Lindsay Girls Hockey
Association, operating as Lindsay Lynx, Lindsay, ON will receive $2,000.00
to help support and grow girls’ hockey in our community.
LINDSAY,
ON September 9, 2010 –
A local business
has just boosted the resources for the Lindsay Girls Hockey Association,
operating as Lindsay Lynx.
“ The
Charitable Giving Fund provides financial support to those charitable
organizations that are doing great work, but may not be as visible
as some of their larger counterparts”.
Teresa Brooks, President
of the Lindsay Girls Hockey Association stated: “We are going
to use the grant from Russell Alexander for equipment for our younger
girls so that the house league girls have goalie equipment because
they have always had hand me downs, and to get new or newer equipment....”
Brooks said “We
are very appreciative of the grant….”
The Lindsay Girls Hockey Association operates out of the Town of Lindsay with
their home ice in several of the Lindsay and surrounding arenas. It supports
the entire City of Kawartha Lakes Region and has accepted players from as far
away as Haliburton, when there were no closer leagues for these girls to play
in. This league provides young girls from the age of 7 to 17 the opportunity
to learn and develop their hockey skills and participate in the game of hockey
without having to complete with and against boys.
